North Yorkshire Humanist Group

For the one life we have

About Us

Who are we, and what do we do?

The North Yorkshire Humanist Group began life in January 2005. We meet regularly to discuss issues of interest to humanists, and to support national and local campaigns that are relevant to humanists. Visitors and members come from all over Yorkshire (and beyond). The Group continues to grow and expand its activities.

When and where we meet

We meet in York every month (except August) on the second Monday, at 7.30pm in the Denham Room, Priory Street Centre, York YO1 6ET. York rail station is about 5 to 10 minutes walk away from Priory Street, and the nearest public car park is at Nunnery Lane.

You do not need to be a member to attend our meetings. However, we do ask for a £2 attendance fee (£1 for paids-up members) to help towards the room hire costs. If you do decide to join us, a year's subscription is £10, or £15 for a couple (£6 / £9 for the unwaged).

Meetings normally finish around 9pm, and are usually followed by a trip to the Punchbowl pub at 5 Blossom Street (at the junction with Nunnery Lane). Again, all are welcome.

We also meet up socially throughout the year with restaurant visits, a book club, and an annual BBQ.
